Blocked Email FAQ
Note:
To keep "spiders" from harvesting e-mail addresses from this
web page, we have used "at" where the "@" sign is
to be used in the addresses below. Please substitute accordingly.
That annoying
advertising E-mail, commonly known as "spam" has become a big
problem for all of us. It has reached such proportions that most E-mail
services and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) have put at least one stringent
blocking or filtering system in place, which all of our E-mail must go
through.
The problem
is these blocking systems often stop E-mail which you want to receive
and read. In fact, you might find you are not receiving any of our E-mail
based services such as the "Email Me My Password" results, "Open
Mic" posting notices, etc.
Here are
things you can do to insure that you will receive this important information
coming.
A
tip for everyone using any type of E-mail software...
Add our
UBCP website addresses to your Contact List:
Step
1 - Open the program in which you use to read your E-mail.
Step
2 - Add these addresses to your E-mail address book to give you a
better chance at receiving them:
- webmaster
"at" utahbackcountypilots.org - used to receive individual
help from us
- mailer
"at" utahbackcountypilots.org - used by our officers
to notify you of events and issues
ALSO
APPLY THESE ADDRESSES AS DESCRIBED BELOW.
How
to Further Guarantee UBCP E-mail Arrivals
These instructions
are relevant to users of AOL, Yahoo, Hotmail, or other E-mail programs
such as Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora, and Netscape Mail.
AOL
If you
are using AOL, you can ensure the delivery of UBCP E-mails by setting
your "Mail Controls."
Step
1 - Go to option "Mail Controls."
Step
2 - Select the screen name we send your newsletters.
Step
3 - Click "Customize Mail Controls for this Screen Name."
Then
you will need to check the version of your AOL software...
For
AOL version 9.0
Step
4 - Open your latest UBCP E-mail.
Step
5 - Click the Add Address button (over on the right) to add the
previously described addresses to your "People I Know"
list.
For
AOL version 8.0
Step
4 - Select "Allow E-mail from all AOL members, E-mail addresses
and domains."
Step
5 - Click "Next" until the "Save" button shows
up at the bottom and then click "Save."
For AOL version 7.0
Step
4 - In the section for "Exclusion and Inclusion Parameters,"
Step
5 - Add and save these domains: "@airbase1.com" and "@utahbackcountrypilots.org"
YAHOO
To ensure
UBCP E-mail delivery in your "Yahoo Inbox" and not the "Bulk
Mail" folder, you can instruct Yahoo to filter it to your Inbox.
Step
1 - Open your Yahoo mailbox.
Step
2 - Click "Mail Options."
Step
3 - Click "Filters."
Step
4 - Next, click "Add Filter."
Step
5 - In the top row, labeled "From header," make sure "contains"
is selected in the pull-down menu.
Step
6 - Click in the text box next to the pull-down menu, then enter
the previously desscribed addresses in the "From" line
of your most recent UBCP E-mail.
Step
7 - At the bottom, where it says, "Move the message to,"
select Inbox from the pull-down menu.
Step
8 - Click the "Add Filter" button again.
HOTMAIL
If you
are using Hotmail, you can ensure that UBCP E-mails are delivered
to your Inbox by adding our "From" address to your "Safe
List".
Step
1 - Click the "Options" tab.
Step
2 - Select "Safe List." It is under the heading "Mail
Handling."
Step
3 - In the space provided, enter the previously described addresses
in the "From" line of your most recent recent UBCP E-mail.
Step
4 - Click "Add."
Step
5 - Then you will see the address you entered in the "Safe
List" box, click "OK."
OTHER
PROGRAMS
Many
popular e-mail programs, including Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora,
and Netscape Mail, do not provide a convenient way for you to mark
easily whom you want to receive e-mail from.
If you
are using this sort of E-mail system and you are not receiving UBCP
E-mails, you can do something about it.
Step
1 - Contact the customer service people or the Postmaster at the
company that provides your e-mail or Internet connection (your ISP).
Step
2 - Explain to them that all E-mails from @airbase1.com and
@utahbackcountrypilots.org are e-mails that you asked for
and want to receive.
Step
3 - Ask them if they can white-list the newsletters that you get
from @airbase1.com or @utahbackcountrypilots.org.
They will probably ask you for some information about us.
Here
is what to tell them:
- Our
Sending Addresses are as previously described above.
-
Our Domains are: airbase1.com and utahbackcountrypilots.org
- Our
IP Address is: 216.241.39.79
As always,
just let us know if you need further help!
